ASUS is set to revisit the realm of giant gaming displays. This concept, which first emerged in 2018 under the name Big Format Gaming Displays (BFGD), is making its comeback at CES 2026. ASUS isn’t offering much in the way of details, but they are providing a hint. Remember BFGD? The dream of the big screen is back. But this time… you won’t need a bigger desk.

What this implies is entirely unclear. However, it’s worth recalling that under the BFGD concept, the enormous 65-inch ROG Swift PG65 was first showcased and later became available in the market. That’s where the concept ended. How ASUS plans to bring this concept back without requiring a large desk isn’t clear yet. It might not be a monitor at all but, perhaps, an ultra-short throw projector.
Exploring New Technologies
Incorporating foldable OLED technology or transparent displays could allow ASUS to offer a large screen experience without the need for a physically large device. Innovations like miniLED or microLED may also play a crucial role in enhancing image quality while reducing the size and weight of the displays. Such technology could feasibly allow ASUS to innovate the concept of BFGD without the need for cumbersome setups.
Given the competitive market landscape for gaming displays, ASUS’s exploration of cutting-edge technology might not only revive the BFGD concept but also set new standards in gaming visual experiences. As we await the next big announcement at CES 2026, we might see these technologies transform the conventional gaming setup landscape.
