ONDA Z790Pro-WIFI-B4: Making Last-Gen Chipsets Work Hard in 2025

The Chinese company ONDA has introduced the Z790Pro-WIFI-B4 motherboard, which stands out for being built on a top-tier chipset, albeit from the previous generation, yet is priced at only $110. Additionally, it operates with DDR4 instead of DDR5, which is very relevant given the cost of memory.

This board allows one to assemble a modern system supporting Intel processors in the LGA-1700 socket, meaning it can accommodate a wide range of CPUs, up to the Core i9-14900K. This eliminates the need to overpay for DDR5 memory, which remains significantly more expensive than DDR4 as of late December 2025.

Despite the low price, expectations for the motherboard’s features are high. Its generous configuration includes a 12-phase power system, DDR4-3600 support, three PCIe 4.0 slots for M.2 SSDs, and Wi-Fi 6E.

While DDR5 offers some performance advantages, the substantial cost difference keeps DDR4 an attractive option for many users. The ONDA Z790Pro-WIFI-B4 thus positions itself strongly against competitors like Asus and Gigabyte, especially in budget-conscious segments or for users wanting to extend the life of their existing DDR4-based components.
