Xiaomi is set to release its flagship Xiaomi 17 Ultra in just a few days. Thanks to Xu Fei, the Vice President and Marketing Director of Xiaomi Group, we now have a chance to closely examine the device itself. At the rear panel, a large round camera module is centrally located with the Leica logo in the center of the round housing. The top of the phone has two symmetrically placed flashes. Overall, the phone closely resembles the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and other Ultra-class phones from Chinese manufacturers.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra, featuring the latest Leica optics and a massive battery, will debut on the global market shortly after its launch in China. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be equipped with a triple rear camera setup featuring the new OmniVision OV50X primary sensor. This flagship 1-inch sensor, developed in China, incorporates third-generation LOFIC technology designed to improve dynamic range and low-light shooting quality.
In addition to the main camera, Xiaomi 17 Ultra has introduced a new 200-megapixel module from Leica. Xiaomi claims this module is approximately 35 percent larger than the one used in the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The lens also obtained Leica APO optical certification, which aims to reduce chromatic aberrations and improve sharpness, especially at long zoom distances. The main sensor is joined by a 1-inch 50-megapixel primary OmniVision OV50X sensor and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide module. For selfies, a 50-megapixel front camera is provided.
The dimensions of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra are 77.6 x 8 mm with a weight of 227 grams. By comparison, the 15 Ultra measures 75.3 x 9.4 mm and weighs 226 or 229 grams. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will feature a flat 6.8-inch 2K LTPO display, moving away from the previous curved panels. Inside, it houses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC along with up to 16 GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.1 storage.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be equipped with a 6800 mAh battery, supporting 100W wired and wireless charging. The Chinese launch is expected next week.
