Samsung has already released the December security patch for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S24, and Galaxy S23 series, and now it’s the turn for the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 models. Interestingly, for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra, the update was part of a quarterly update.
As of now, the December security patch for the Galaxy S21 line is available to owners of carrier-based versions of the smartphones in the United States. This update addresses a total of 57 security vulnerabilities within the One UI interface and Android OS. For the Galaxy S21 series, the official operating system update cycle has ended. The phones, which debuted with One UI 3 (Android 11), received five major updates, the latest being One UI 8.0 based on Android 16. There are no plans for One UI 8.5 or newer Android versions for these models.
Regarding the Galaxy S22 series, the update has rolled out in India. The firmware is marked with the number S90xEOXMCGYL1, and the update size is 485 MB. In addition, industry experts emphasize that maintaining up-to-date security protocols is crucial for protecting user data against emerging cyber threats. Samsung continues to set a benchmark in releasing timely security patches, as observed in this latest rollout.
