BYD has adjusted the market release schedule for its largest crossover in the Dynasty series. The premiere of the Dynasty-D model, which debuted at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, is now planned for the second quarter of 2026. The vehicle was initially intended to launch sooner, but increased competition in the full-size SUV segment and the need for additional refinement prompted the brand to reschedule.
The upcoming new model, approximately 5.2 meters in length, will be the Dynasty’s largest and available in both 6- and 7-seat configurations. The design follows the Dragon Face Reborn style: the signature chrome “dragon whiskers” bar merges with a long light line, the front features active air intakes, and the “floating roof” and hidden handles add visual lightness. Inside, there are three screens, premium materials, and advanced second-row seats.
Technically, the crossover is built on BYD’s hybrid architecture DM 5.0 with a front internal combustion engine and two electric motors, providing all-wheel drive and an electric range of over 200 km (124 miles) on the CLTC cycle. The driver’s assistance complex God’s Eye B uses lidar, a dozen cameras, and Nvidia Orin-X computing platform. A rear-wheel steering system and DiSus-A adaptive suspension are also stated.
Market Context and Competition
The delay aligns with BYD’s strategic response to the increasingly competitive full-size SUV market. Recent launches from rivals like Tesla’s updated Model X and NIO’s ES8 have set high benchmarks in this segment, focusing on electrification and advanced technologies.
