An insider at Digital Chat Station has revealed that within the Huawei Mate 80 lineup, an experimental modification with built-in active cooling, dubbed the Mate 80 Fan Edition, was in development. However, this version has not yet been launched into serial production due to unforeseen circumstances.
Previously, a Huawei patent emerged online describing a smartphone with an integrated active cooling system. The documentation details a central camera module with a multi-level design: side air intakes, internal channels for air pumping, a hidden annular air duct, and a miniature flat fan less than 3 mm thick. According to engineers, the fan should remain off during regular use and only activate under high load, such as when gaming or during 4K video editing.
Despite meticulous engineering, the Mate 80 Fan Edition did not appear on the model list. According to Huawei Mall, four versions will be available: Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max, and Mate 80 RS Master. The Mate 80 series is expected to debut with the new Kirin 9030 chip, support up to 20 GB of RAM, and feature storage of up to 1 TB, positioning it as the most powerful in the line’s history.
The launch is scheduled for November 25, coinciding with the presentation of the foldable Huawei Mate X7. The Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max will be equipped with a quad-camera setup, including two periscope telephoto lenses. Both sensors are significantly larger than 10-megapixel ones. The image sensor size will be 1/3.94 inches with a pixel size of 1.0 μm.
Huawei has officially confirmed that the Mate 80 series will debut on November 25. At this same presentation, the company will showcase the updated foldable Mate X7.
