The brand 8849 Tech has unveiled a new rugged smartphone, the Tank X. This device is equipped with a DLP projector with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and a brightness of 220 cd/m². Intriguingly, it even includes a laser autofocus assistant, simplifying image setup and enhancing usability in camping conditions.
On the back of the smartphone is a highly bright (1200 lumens) camping flashlight. The Tank X is fitted with a night vision camera. This is supported by a primary 50-megapixel camera, a telephoto module with 3x zoom, and an 8-megapixel sensor. The front camera is 50 megapixels. The screen measures 6.78 inches, with a resolution of 2460 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
It came at a cost of size; the phone’s thickness is 3.2 cm, and its weight is approximately 750 grams. Inside is a battery with a capacity of 17,600 mAh, supporting fast charging up to 120 W. The smartphone can also be used as a mobile power bank, with an output power of 10 W.
At the heart of the hardware platform is the 4-nanometer MediaTek Dimensity 8200. The RAM is 16 GB, and the flash memory is 512 GB. There is also an NFC chip, support for dual SIM cards, a microSD slot, a 3.5 mm jack, and an IR emitter.
Sales of the 8849 Tank X begin on February 1 at the manufacturer’s official online store. No pricing information is available yet.
