This simple set for 3D printer base on microcontroller Mega 2560 + RAMPS 1.4 + motor drivers, it is a solution for RepRap projects.

It is designed to fit the entire electronics needed for a RepRap in one small package for low cost. RAMPS 1.4 interfaces an Ard. Mega with its powerful platform and has plenty room for expansion. The modular design includes a plug in stepper drivers and extruder control electronics on an Ard. MEGA shield for easy service, part replacement, upgrade-ability, and expansion.

RAMPS 1.4:

RAMPS 1.4 is short for RepRap Ard. Mega Shield. It is designed to fit the entire electronics needed for a RepRap in one small package for low cost. RAMPS 1.4 interfaces an Ard. Mega with its powerful platform and has plenty room for expansion. The modular design includes plug in stepper drivers and extruder control electronics on an Ard. MEGA shield for easy service, part replacement, upgrade-ability and expansion. Additionally, a number Ardulno expansion boards can be added to the system as long as the main RAMPS 1.4 board is kept to the top of the stack.

MEGA 2560 R3:

This is the new 2016 version of our Mega 2560 board that is fully compatible with the Arduino Mega 2560. It utilizes a genuine Atmel ATmega2560 microcontroller and the inexpensive CH340G USB-UART interface.

This board continues our commitment to uncompromising quality using the best components and excellent design layout, whilst providing a stable budget solution. It uses the CH340G to lower the cost without losing functionality or quality.

DRV8825 stepper motor driver:

The DRV8825 stepper motor driver carrier is a breakout board for TI’s DRV8825 microstepping bipolar stepper motor driver. The module has a pinout and interface that are nearly identical to those of our A4988 stepper motor driver carriers, so it can be used as a higher-performance drop-in replacement for those boards in many applications. The DRV8825 features adjustable current limiting, overcurrent and overtemperature protection, and six microstep resolutions (down to 1/32-step). It operates from 8.2 — 45V and can deliver up to approximately 1.5A per phase without a heat sink or forced air flow (rated for up to 2.2A per coil with sufficient additional cooling).

A4988 stepper motor driver:

A4988 is a complete microstepping motor driver with built-in translator for easy operation. This driver can use in full, half, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 step modes operate bipolar stepper motors, output drive capacity of up to 35V and ± 2A. A4988 includes a fixed off-time current regulator, the regulator in slow or mixed decay modes.

A4988 converter is the key to the easy implementation. As long as the «step» input inputting one pulse drives the motor one microstep. There are no phase sequence tables, high frequency control lines, or complex interfaces to program. A4988 interface is very suitable for complex microprocessor is unavailable or is overburdened. In the micro-step operation, A4988 chopping control inside automatically selects the current decay mode (Slow or Mixed). In mixed decay mode, the device is initially set to a fixed downtime in some fast decay, then the rest of the slow decay downtime. Mixed decay current control scheme results in reduced audible motor noise, increased step accuracy, and reduced power consumption. Internal synchronous rectification control circuitry is provided to improve the pulse-width modulation (PWM) operation power consumption. Internal circuit protection includes: thermal shutdown with hysteresis, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and crossover-current protection. Special power sequencing.
